This process entails taking the mill stones apart, re-chiselling all the grooves – and putting them back together again.
There are two stones both weighting around 1/2 a tonne and they sit on top of each other. They move against each other to create the crushing motion to grind the grain into flour. Over time the grooves get worn and are less efficient at milling.
Normal visiting days will apply so we won’t be open on the Monday but Tues – Friday will be access to anyone who takes a tour on those days.Back
